Olivia’s Café at Walt Disney World’s Old Key West Resort has long been considered a hidden gem. Opened in 1991 alongside Disney’s original Disney Vacation Club (DVC) property, this charming spot blends laid-back vacation vibes with a warm, homey atmosphere. The menu features classic island-inspired dishes like Conch Fritters and Key Lime Pie, alongside comforting Southern favorites—most notably the Southernmost Buttermilk Fried Chicken, which might just be the best fried chicken on Disney property. The decor tells the story of Olivia, the restaurant’s fictional namesake. A local who opened her café to earn a little extra money, her neighbors pitched in by donating their own furniture to help seat more guests. To this day, you’ll notice mismatched tables and chairs, Olivia’s heirlooms hanging from the ceiling, and photos of real DVC members decorating the walls—creating a warm, "Welcome Home" atmosphere. When we filmed our Top 5 Walt Disney World Dining Deals series, many viewers suggested we include Olivia’s. While it didn’t make the original list, we knew we had to check it out for ourselves. In this video, we explore the story, the decor, how to get there, and—most importantly—whether this hidden gem is truly worth the trip. Is Olivia’s a must-visit or just a charming detour? Watch to find out!
