The history of Disney Springs and Paddlefish are inexorably tied. Christened by Lillian Disney in 1977, this multistory restaurant is designed to resemble a 19th Century Paddle Steamer. The ship's name is the Empress Lilly but the name of the restaurant that inhabits it has changed multiple times since its christening. The addition of a Paddle Steamer to Disney Springs pays homage to Walt Disney's appreciation for the history of locomotion. The restaurant that currently inhabits the Empress Lilly opened in 2017. Now known as Paddlefish, this seafood restaurant provides upscale dining with impressive views of Disney Springs and multiple indoor as well as outdoor bars. Its top deck can be reserved for special events and weddings. In fact, Paddlefish was home to our wedding! In 2020, we were married on the top deck. On our first trip together to Walt Disney World, we distinctly remember taking a boat down the Sassagoula River and seeing Paddlefish as one of the prominent features in the Disney Springs skyline. Due to our history here, this is the Disney Springs restaurant we've reviewed the most on this channel. In prior videos we've told the legend of Paddlefish's Lobster Corn Dogs, which disappeared from their menu when they reopened in 2020. Well Paddlefish has a NEW menu and Lobster Corn Dogs have made their triumphant returned! In this video, we try out the majority of the new menu items at Paddlefish and see if now is the time to visit one of Walt Disney World's most historic restaurants.
