he Magic Kingdom Resorts are hiding some of the BEST eats on Walt Disney World property and we consider Disney's Fort Wilderness to be particularly underrated. Since this is a camping resort, many of the menus revolve around classic American comfort food and delicacies synonymous with the mid-west. Davey Crockett was a mythic figure that loomed large over the design aesthetics of early Frontierland, and this resort when it initially opened. In fact, the lounge here still bears the name, Crockett's Tavern. While drinks are the focal point, Crockett's Tavern also doubles as a fast casual table service restaurant for the Fort Wilderness Cabins and Campgrounds. Last time we were here we became huge fans. Their Mac and Cheese Burger was a favorite of ours and their mason jar dessert trio perfectly captured the essence of the Fort. Unfortunately, both of those items are gone. In there place is a new cheeseburger and a Buttermilk Pie. In fact, the entire menu saw a complete turnover. Since we were such big fans of the previous menu, we decided to head back to Fort Wilderness, via Magic Kingdom Boat Transportation, to see if these new eats live up to the legend of Davey Crockett. We go over our favorite new items, how to get here, and see if the NEW menu at Crockett's Tavern is worth venturing out of Magic Kingdom Park for.
