Yo Ho! Magic Kingdom Park just made history by opening its first lounge! The Beak and Barrel is a Pirates of the Caribbean themed lounge/bar that took over the former home of the Pirates League makeover experience. Located near the exit of the legendary Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, Beak and Barrel is designed emulate a tavern for outlaws that's hiding a few magical twists. Owned by Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn and operated by her first mate, Rummy, patrons are invited to partake in Caribbean inspired lounge bites and spirited pirate themed beverages. While guests dine, multiple show scenes take place throughout the lounge. There are three rooms, each with distinct show elements. The primary room is called the mess, to the right of entry is the Captain's Quarters, and to the left of entree is the Map Makers Room. Rummy can be seen above the main bar area, working to keep the atmosphere lively and the malevolent actors at bay. Very few experiences produced for Walt Disney World more closely resemble the concept art as this lounge does. Every inch of Beak and Barrel tells a story and has something to see. The experience can most closely be compared to Oga's Cantina or Trader Sam's Grog Grotto but on a larger scale. While impressive, we still felt there were a few shortcomings. Diners are limited to a strict two drink minimum and must depart exactly 45 minutes after being seated. This led to us having to cram food down our gullets and rush around to capture what we could. This 45 minute time limit can prevent guests from being able to take in the fantastical show elements, although it does prevent guests from seeing any one show element twice. This video documents are complete experience at Beak and Barrel. While we feel this is overall a win for Magic Kingdom, we do think there were a few misses. We go over ALL the food, the mocktails, show scenes and try to see if this is Walt Disney World's new can't miss experience.
