California Grill, located at the top of Disney's Contemporary Resort, has been Jay's favorite restaurant in Walt Disney World since our first visit back in 2018. This restaurant originally opened as Top of the World Lounge and Restaurant with Walt Disney World back in 1971. Boosting near flawless views of the Magic Kingdom and Disney's nightly Fireworks Spectaculars, California Grill has become renowned by Disney aficionados and fans of fine dining as one of the premier Walt Disney World dining experiences. For Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary, California Grill ditched its traditional menu for a signature prix fixe offering. During this time many fan favorites were lost and it was assumed California Grill would revert back to its traditional menu at the conclusion of Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary. However, that was not the case and a new signature prix fixe menu was introduced. To celebrate our 1 year move to Florida we decided to stop by on the introductory weekend for this new menu to see if it lives up to our nostalgic memories here. We attempted to find returning menu favorites, provide a full tour and savor the sights, sounds and flavors of this unique dining experience.
